BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Healthcare workers across the United States have been caring for others in the midst of a nationwide staffing shortage.
Nurses from UPMC Altoona took took their fight to the steps of UPMC Headquarters on Wednesday morning to address the staffing crisis they say is facing their hospital.
"This is unacceptable."
That's what Sandy Wagner -- a Registered Nurse in the ICU at UPMC Altoona -- said during her speech at the kick-off press conference.
(TCS) — The Republican governors of two dozen states penned a letter to President Joe Biden opposing the World Health Organization's proposed "Pandemic Agreement," which they said could "undermine national sovereignty" and states' rights.
The state executives argue the treaty "would seek to elevate the WHO from an advisory body to a global authority in public health." They contend the proposed accord could also allow the WHO to establish "a global surveillance infrastructure"
ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — Altoona police say a fourth teen has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy. Police say 15-year-old Devon Pfirsching was shot to death in February near Jefferson Park after a group of teens staged a robbery. According to a criminal complaint, 16-year-old Omedro Davis was arrested Sunday on charges of second degree murder and more after police allege he bought the gun that was used to kill Pfirsching.
OKALOOSA ISLAND, Fla. (WPMI) — One day after after Michael Stadther reported his ice cream truck missing and posted it on Facebook, the truck has been found.
"Facebook found my truck," Stadther said. "I can't believe how many people shared it and knew about it." His original post about the truck was shared over 500 times and was also shared by the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.
Stadther told NBC 15 that as soon as he found it was stolen from his lot in Okaloosa Island, he contacted police and put it on Facebook for help.
SOMERSET CO, Pa (WJAC) — Despite some rain on Friday, Somerset County and the September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance held a ribbon-cutting to celebrate a new section of trail. The 1.5-mile segment of the 9/11 Trail in Garrett is the first of many that will connect the Great Allegheny Passage to the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville.
Several local and state officials were present for the ceremony, including state Senator Pat Stefano.
