Veteran trust in VA reaches new high, survey shows

(TND) — Veteran trust in the Department of Veterans Affairs has reached a new high, the department announced this week. Veteran trust in the VA has increased 25% since 2016. The trust score, based on tens of thousands of surveys, reached 80.4% in the previous quarter. The veterans who gave feedback tapped into VA services such as health care, disability compensation benefits, memorial affairs, the GI Bill and home loans.

Plans for SCI Cresson property fall through

CRESSON -- Plans to redevelop the former State Correctional Institution's property into a power plant fell through this week after the company that agreed to build it backed out due to the area's economy. The Cambria County Redevelopment Authority had an agreement with Boston-based Energy Management Inc. to build a gas-fired electric generation plant where SCI Cresson once operated. According to Redevelopment Authority Chairman Sam Piccioni, county leaders received a letter from Energy Management with the news Thursday night.

PSEA visits with local teachers to discuss impact of Mastriano's plan to cut funding

Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — The Pennsylvania State Education Association says they are concerned with reported school funding cuts proposed by Republican Gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano. PSEA Treasurer Jeff Ney was in Richland Township Monday afternoon to talk to local teachers about the potential local impacts of the proposed school funding cuts. Officials say Mastriano’s plan would cut public funding by more than $12 billion annually resulting in the loss of thousands of jobs.
