NTSB releases final report on 2017 Hyndman train derailment

HYNDMAN, Pa. (WJAC) — The National Transportation Safety Board has issued its final report on the August 2017 train derailment in Hyndman, Bedford County. The NTSB says the “inappropriate” use of hand brakes on empty train cars to control train speed and the placement of blocks of empty cars at the front of the train was the cause. The report says, the CSX train was carrying a variety of cargo when 33 cars derailed from tracks along the Hogback Road Crossing.

Penn State suffers first loss of the season
