Strong wind gust topples stage at northern Mexico rally, killing at least 9 people

SAN PEDRO GARZA GARCIA, Mexico (AP) — A strong gust of wind toppled the stage at a campaign rally Wednesday evening in the northern Mexican state of Nuevo Leon, killing at least nine people — including a child — and injuring 63, the state's governor said. The collapse occurred during an event attended by presidential long-shot candidate Jorge Álvarez Máynez, who ran to escape. Videos of the collapse on social media showed people screaming, running away and climbing out from under metal polls.

31-year-old woman pregnant with 13-year-old's baby won't face jail time

WASHINGTON (TND) — A 31-year-old Colorado woman who authorities said had a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old boy and became pregnant with his child won't be facing jail time, according to reports. The Fountain Police Department said Andrea Serrano was arrested in July 2022 on felony charges, including sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, as well as sexual assault on a child. Police said she admitted to having sex with the teenager and was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

Altoona RR museum to host reading events to educate kids on local rail history

Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — In commemoration of National Reading Month, the Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum is teaming up with the Altoona Public Library to host "Railroad City Reads" at the museum. The event is centered on reading railroading related books to young children. It's free with regular admission to the museum and reading times are scheduled for noon, 1 and 2 p.m. Staff at the museum say the key to appreciating local history is to educate others about it.
